Guild Captures CAC Women's Swimmer-of-the-Week Accolade

YORK, Pa. – The York College women's swimming team received outstanding news Tuesday, as junior swimmer Michaela Guild was chosen as the Capital Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer-of-the-Week.

Guild posted a fantastic outing at last Saturday's Rowan Cup held at Rowan University in Glassboro, N.J. The junior recorded York's best finish as she captured the victory in the 1,650 freestyle. Her 18:39.58 was 15 seconds faster than her nearest competitor and just five seconds shy of her 2010 Capital Athletic Conference Championships time where she placed fifth.

Guild has been a tremendously solid distance freestyle swimmer during her two previous campaigns with the Spartans and will now look to build on this confidence-boosting effort.

The York women return home on Friday, December 3, as they host Gallaudet and Penn State-Altoona in a 6:00 pm tri-meet. The next day, the Green and White host another tri-meet as they welcome Goucher and CAC foe Salisbury to the Grumbacher Sport & Fitness Center for a 1:00 pm tilt.
