YORK, PA - Following her dominating performance over her pair of meets Friday and Saturday, York College sophomore women's swimmer Heather MacLennan (Galena, Md./St. Mark's) has been named the Spartan Athlete-of-the-Week for November 30 through December 6.
MacLennan won all five races she entered during York's two meets last week, nabbing four individual events.
In Friday's tri-meet with Goucher and Capital Athletic Conference rival Salisbury, MacLennan snagged first in both the 50 freestyle and the 100 backstroke. In both events MacLennan swam season-best times, clocking in at 25.52 and 1:02.26 respectively. The sophomore's victories helped propel the Spartans to two wins Friday evening, including their first team triumph over Salisbury since January 25, 2003.
The Green and White traveled to nearby Millersville University on Saturday as MacLennan added three more wins to her resumé. She collected the 200 freestyle with a 2:01.97 to outpace the field by over 3.5 seconds while also taking the 200 backstroke by more than five seconds at 2:12.96.
MacLennan led off the Spartans 400 free relay squad, which turned in a 3:51.17 and secured first for the Spartans.
MacLennan and the Spartans return to action this Friday, December 11, for a home contest with visiting Elizabethtown at 6:00 p.m. York then turns around quickly as hosts of Gallaudet and Penn State-Altoona on Saturday, December 12, in a 1:00 p.m. tri-meet.
