BALTIMORE, MD-The York College women’s swim squad rolled to an 80-15 non-conference victory over the College of Notre Dame on Friday evening in Baltimore, MD. The Spartans improve to 6-5 overall with two dual meets remaining in the year.
The Spartans won all but one event on the evening as they cruised to the win. The Spartans started off with a win in the 160-yard medley relay as the foursome of Molly Wasik (York, Pa./Spring Grove), Colleen Nolan (Annandale, Va./Annandale), Lisa King (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright), and Ashley Stanton (Columbia, Md./Hammond) combined to earn the win.
The Gators got a victory in the 1,000-yard freestyle but the Spartans bounced back with a victory from Alison Brophy (Reading, Pa./Reading) in the 200-yard freestyle. Bridget Miller (Wilmington, Del./St. Mark's) followed Brophy’s effort with a win in the 40-yard freestyle.
King notched an individual win in the 160-yard individual medley while freshman Liz Grey (Bensalem, Pa./Nazareth Academy) rolled to a win in the 100-yard butterfly. Stanton recorded a win of her own in the 100 yard freestyle. Wasik kept the Spartans rolling with a first place finish in the 100-yard backstroke. Freshman Michaela Guild (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) posted a victory in the 500-yard while Nolan won the 100-breast stroke.
The 1650 freestyle relay team of Stanton, Kaitlyn Estes (Athens, Pa./Athens Area), Miller, and Grey closed out the meet with a victory in their event as they cruised to a 14 second win.
The Spartans conclude their home schedule on Saturday afternoon as they host Ursinus in a non-conference meet beginning at 1:00 pm. Prior to Saturday’s meet, the Spartans will honor their seniors with their annual Senior Day ceremony.
