YORK, PA - The York College women’s swim team split at the St. Mary’s tri-meet Saturday afternoon. The Spartans earned a 158-41 victory over Frostburg State but fell to St. Mary’s 126-79. York now stands at 4-4 (2-3 CAC) on the young season, Frostburg falls to 0-4, and St. Mary’s won both meets and improves to 3-2 (1-1 CAC).
Laura McCray (Laurel, Md./Laurel) and Molly Wasik (York, Pa./Spring Grove) garnered individual wins for the Spartan side. McCray touched the wall first in the 400 IM with a time of 5:06.52 while Wasik grabbed the top spot in the 100 backstroke clocking in at 1:07.18.
York also tallied a slew of second place finishes, finishing second six times including two relays. Wasik grabbed second in the 50 free at 27.23 while Ashley Stanton (Columbia, Md./Hammond) finished second in the 100 free with a time of 1:00.08. Jen Ehrenreich (Cherry Hill, N.J./Bishop Eustace) touched in at 5:16.33 finishing just behind McCray in the 400 IM. Tristen Zeigler (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) earned a second place finish coming in at 1:09.69 in the 100 backstroke as Wasik won the event.
The team of Ehrenreich, Colleen Nolan (Annandale, Va./Annandale), McCray, and Kristen Leonard (Herndon, Va./Herndon) came in second in the 200 medley at 1:58.64. Stanton, McCray, Wasik, and Bridget Miller (Wilmington, Del./St. Mark's) earned second place honors in the 200 free touching in at 1:49.64.
York returns to action Saturday, December 1 as they are set to host Salisbury and Goucher. The tri-meet is scheduled to begin at 2:00 pm at the York College Natatorium.
