Spartans Remain in Sixth at CAC Championships

ST. MARY’S, MD-The York College women’s swim team stands sixth out of seven teams after day two of the 2008 Capital Athletic Conference championships at St. Mary’s City, MD. The Spartans have 171 points, just three points back of fifth place Hood.

York’s top Saturday finish came courtesy of senior Laura McCray (Laurel, Md./Laurel) as she placed fourth in the 400 IM, notching a time of 5:00.17.

Sophomore Molly Wasik (York, Pa./Spring Grove) posted an eighth place finish in the 100 backstroke as she touched the wall in a time of 1:05.37.

Sophomore Ashley Stanton (Columbia, Md./Hammond) posted another eighth place finish for York in the 200 free. Stanton recorded a time of 2:04.22. Teammate Bridget Miller (Wilmington, Del./St. Mark's) finished tenth in the same event with a time of 2:06.07.

Miller also had a 13th place finish in the 100 fly as she completed the race in a time of 1:04.25.
In the 100 breaststroke, Spartans Flor Aroche (Spring, Texas/Tomball) and Colleen Nolan (Anandale, Va./Annandale) placed 12th and 13th respectively. Aroche’s time was 1:16.71 while Nolan finished the race in a time of 1:16.85.

The Spartans return to the pool on Sunday morning at 10:00 am for trials followed by the finals at 6:00 pm.
