Spartans Stand Sixth After Day One

ST. MARY’S, MD-The York College women’s swim team stands sixth out of seven teams after day one of the 2008 Capital Athletic Conference championships at St. Mary’s City, MD. The Spartans have 72 points, just eight back of fifth place Hood.

The highlight of the day for the Spartans came when sophomore Molly Wasik (York, Pa./Spring Grove) established a new school record with a time of 2:20.41 in the 200 IM.

The Spartans’ 200 free relay and 400 medley relay teams each finished fifth. The 200 free relay foursome finished with a time of 1:46.70 while the 400 medley relay team notched a time of 4:21.42.

Senior Laura McCray (Laurel, Md./Laurel) recorded a top 10 finish for the Spartans as she was tenth in the 500 free with a time of 5:32.28.

The Spartans return to the pool on Saturday morning at 10:00 am for trials followed by the finals at 6:00 pm.
