FREDERICKSBURG, VA – The York College
women’s swimming team ran into a buzz saw Saturday afternoon
as the University of Mary Washington defeated the visiting Spartans
217-45. With the defeat the green and white fall to 2-2 and 1-2 in
the league play while the Eagles remain unblemished with a mark of
4-0 and 3-0 in the CAC.
The Spartans captured third in both the
400 medley and 200 freestyle relay races. The 400 squad of
Molly Wasik (York, Pa./Spring Grove),
Colleen Nolan (Annandale, Va./Annandale),
Liz Grey (Bensalem, Pa./Nazareth Academy), and
Kaitlyn Estes (Athens, Pa./Athens Area) took third
with a time of 4:24.84. In the 200 freestyle, Ashley
Stanton (Columbia, Md./Hammond), Michaela Guild
(Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti), Grey, and
Bridget Miller (Wilmington, Del./St. Mark's) came
in third touching the wall at 1:47.20.
Sophomore Lisa King (Bel Air,
Md./C. Milton Wright) secured a pair of third-place
individual times in the 200 butterfly and 400 IM events. King
logged a 2:23.95 in the 200 fly before registering a 5:07.38 in the
400 IM.
Grey, who posted quality showings in both
relays, grabbed third in the 100 butterfly event with a time of
1:03.77. Stanton took third in the 200 freestyle clocking in at
2:07.30.
York returns to the pool on Friday,
November 14. The Spartans will travel to Millersville for a 6:00 pm
non-conference meet.
