Wasik, King Post Victories But Saints Down Spartans
ARLINGTON, VA – The York College
women’s swimming team dropped a 166-94 result to Capital
Athletic Conference foe Marymount University Saturday afternoon in
Arlington, Va. The Spartans fall to 1-1 (1-1 CAC) on the year while
the Saints open the season at 1-0 (1-0 CAC).
The green and white captured a trio of
wins on the day, with junior Molly Wasik (York, Pa./Spring
Grove) notching two of those victories. Wasik touched the
wall first in the 100 backstroke, coming in with a time of 1:05.60.
The junior also landed a first-place spot in the 200 backstroke,
finishing the race with at 2:20.47.
Sophomore Lisa King (Bel Air,
Md./C. Milton Wright) secured a first-place finish for the
Spartans when she won the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:22.12.
King also grabbed a second-place spot in the 100 butterfly clocking
in at 1:04.80, while taking third in the 400 IM with a time of
5:13.02.
Junior Kaitlin Crean (Fairfield,
Conn./Fairfield Warde) notched a pair of runner-up
finishes, coming in second in the 500 and 1000 freestyle events.
Crean posted a 5:49.12 in the 500 and an 11:47.90 in the 1000.
In the 200 freestyle, freshman
Michaela Guild (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti)
placed second in the 200 freestyle while junior Ashley
Stanton (Columbia, Md./Hammond) finished third in the
event with times of 2:06.11 and 2:07.31 respectively. Stanton
placed third again in the 50 freestyle with a 27.16.
Senior Colleen Nolan (Annandale,
Va./Annandale) registered two third place finishes.
Nolan’s 1:16.76 was the third-best mark in the 100
breaststroke while her 2:26.76 in the 200 breaststroke was also
good for third.
York swimmers also finished third in the
100 and 500 freestyle. Freshman Kaitlin Estes (Athens,
Pa./Athens Area) came in third in the 100 touching the
wall at 59.13. Sophomore Alison Beverly (Andover,
N.J./Newton) recorded a third spot for the Spartans with
her 5:50.35 time in the 500.
The green and white returns to the pool on
Wednesday, November 5, when they travel to Elizabethtown for a 6:00
pm match-up with the Blue Jays.
