Spartans Swim Past Blue Jays in Non-Conference Meet
ELIZABETHTOWN, PA-The York College
women’s swim team defeated Elizabethtown College 123-82 in a
non-conference meet in Elizabethtown, PA on Wednesday night. The
Spartans improve to 2-1 for the campaign while the Blue Jays fall
to 1-2.
The Spartans won six individual events and both relay events.
The meet began with the Spartans earning a win in the 200 medley
relay as the foursome of Molly Wasik (York, Pa./Spring
Grove), Colleen Nolan (Annandale,
Va./Annandale), Liz Grey (Bensalem, Pa./Nazareth
Academy), and Ashley Stanton (Columbia,
Md./Hammond) combined to to record a winning time of
2:03.00. After the Blue Jays won the 1,000 free, York’s
Allison Brophy (Reading, Pa./Reading) won the 200
free with a time of 2:08.20. The Blue Jays recorded a win in the 50
free but York again bounced back with a Wasik win in the 200 IM.
The Spartan junior recorded a time of 2:23.49.
Freshman Grey rolled to a win in the 100 fly as she touched the
wall in a time of 1:04.04. The Blue Jays got their final individual
win in the 100 free but York rebounded to win the final three
events. Wasik got her second individual win of the night as she was
the victor in the 100 back with a time of 1:06.59. Freshman
Michaela Guild (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti)
won the 500 free in a time of 5:39.36 while Nolan closed out the
meet with a win in the 100 breast stroke as she touched the wall in
a time of 1:17.81.
The Spartan 200 free relay team of Grey, Brophy, Kaitlyn
Estes (Athens, Pa./Athens Area), and Bridget
Miller (Wilmington, Del./St. Mark’s) won the event
with a time of 1:47.16.
The Spartans return to action on Saturday afternoon when they
travel to the University of Mary Washington to face the Eagles in a
Capital Athletic Conference meet scheduled for a 2:00 pm start.
