|Title:||Head Women's Soccer Coach|
Vicki Sterner enters her 16th season as the head women's soccer coach with a youthful and talented core in addition to a stellar recruiting class. She is the only coach in the history of the program as she has posted a career mark of 172-117-20, good for a winning percentage of 58.8%. Throw out the record for the first two years of the program and that winning percentage jumps to 62% (157-96-19). Sterner has posted double-digit wins in 12 of the last 14 seasons and earned her 100th victory with the 4-1 win over Goucher on October 11, 2005. Her 150th career victory came on September 25, 2010 at Wesley as the Spartans downed the Wolverines 3-0.
Sterner's best year came in 2007 when the Spartans captured their first ever Capital Athletic Conference championship and made their first NCAA Tournament appearance. Sterner, the 2001, 2003, and 2007 Capital Athletic Conference Coach-of-the-Year, guided the Spartans to a school-record 15 victories as they advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament after picking up wins over highly-regarded Richard Stockton and Virginia Wesleyan in the opening two rounds.
Sterner is responsible for recruiting and coaching five CAC Rookies-of-the-Year and 27 players that have gone on to earn 27 first-team and 24 second-team All-CAC accolades. Former goalkeeper Amanda Lomberg became the first Spartan to earn All Mid-Atlantic region honors in the fall of 2005 as the Spartan program continues to be recognized for its outstanding and elevated level of play. In 2006, Lomberg was joined by Emily Sullivan and Erin Kuhn on the All Mid-Atlantic team while Sullivan and Kuhn each earned All-American recognition. Standout defender Kali MacGregor was a two-time All-Region selection in 2007 and 2008. Defender Lauren Stewart joined that list in 2009 with her appearance on the All-Regional squad.
Sterner has a solid track record and is well respected within Central Pennsylvania soccer. She is the former head coach at Spring Grove High School where the Rockets won two league titles, one in 1996 and one in 1997. She has also coached the Central Pennsylvania Select Under 19 and Under 16 teams.
