The Series

The Seahawks lead the all-time series 15-9-3 over the Spartans … these two have met five prior times in the CAC tournament with the Seahawks owning a 3-1-1 record over that time … this will be the first time the two have faced off in the first round since 1997 when the Seahawks knocked off York 3-2 in quadruple overtime … the Spartans topped St. Mary's in the previous postseason meeting 2-1 on the road in the 2015 semifinals, York went on to win the CAC title that season.

What's on the Line:

Last Time We Met

The two teams met back on October 17 with the Seahawks coming to York and defeating the Spartans 2-1. The Seahawks scored early in that contest in both periods getting goals from Jenna Pastel and Haley David. York was able to get one back off the foot of Jenna Cholowinski but came up one goal short. The Spartans outshout the Seahawks 28 to 10 in the contest but St. Mary's keeper Katie Flores was able to make 10 saves to stifle the Spartan offense. The 28 shots were tied for the most York had in a single game all season.

Odds and Ends

The Spartans will look to defend their home turf where they have been tough all year long. York has a plus-7 goal differential at home compared to a minus-4 on the road. The Spartan offense also averages 17.2 shots per game when playing at Graham Field. York took 28 shots in the previous meeting and combine that with their offensive abilities at home, one can expect a strong offensive output from the Spartans. York was 1st in the CAC with 108 corner kicks with senior Caitlin Rankin playing dangerous balls into the box that helped her rack up her CAC co-leading 10 assists on the season. The Spartans come in winners of three of their last four home matches. Freshman Megan Stoltzfus has been an offensive spark of late scoring goals in her last two games and recording five total points in those matches.
