SALISBURY, MD – The York College women's soccer team secured a home CAC tournament game with a 2-1 road victory over the Salisbury Sea Gulls on Wednesday afternoon.

How It Happened:
• The majority of the play was in the midfield during the first half but the Spartans were able to generate ten shots and nine corner kicks but were just unable to turn those chances into a goal and the score remained scoreless at the intermission break.
• The Spartans broke the scoreless match in the 53rd minute off their tenth corner of the game when Caitlin Rankin sent the ball into the box and it found the head of Megan Stoltzfus who beat the Sea Gull keeper to give York a 1-0 advantage in the second half.
• Salisbury was able to get one back in the 84th minute on a Kara Schmidt shot from the left side of the box that banked in off the post but it was too little too late for the Sea Gulls and the Spartans secured the 2-1 victory.

York is 10-16-3 all-time against the Sea Gulls … the Spartans secure the three-seed in the CAC tournament with the win … York won four of their final six games to end the season … freshman Megan Stoltzfus scored her second goal in as many games and also recorded her first career assist in the win … Georgia Gillcrist recorder her third goal of the season on a season-high seven shots with five being on goal … Caitlin Rankin continued to rack up the assists as she picked up her team-leading 10th assist and 18th point with her helper on the second-half corner kick … Rankin now sits alone at the top of the CAC assist leaderboard … the Spartans generated 11 corner kicks, which is just the third time they have had double-digit corners in a match this season … York finishes the regular season 3-5 on the road.
The Spartans will host a CAC tournament first-round matchup on Saturday. The opponent and time will be announced Thursday.
