Spartan Offense Explodes in 4-0 Rout At Marywood

SCRANTON, PA – The Spartan offense came alive and propelled them to a 4-0 victory at Marywood on a chilly Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened:

• The Spartans got on the board first when Natalie McCarthy tallied her first of two goals on the afternoon off a header from right in front of the net in the 17th minute. 

• It only took York 43 seconds to double their lead when Macayla Welsh tapped in a pass in front of the goal by Jo Nicholson to give the Spartans a 2-0 lead that would remain until halftime.

• The Spartans offense continued to overpower the Marywood defense when Natalie McCarthy played a beautiful chip pass through the defense that resulted in a blast from 18 yards out by Erin Baier to give the Spartans a 3-0 advantage in the 56th minute.

• Just over three minutes later Natalie McCarthy put her second goal in the back of the net off an assist from Rachel Wilhelm that put York comfortably ahead 4-0 and the Spartan defense held strong preserving the shutout victory.
