Ithaca Edges Wittenberg 1-0

York, PA (AP) - The Messiah College women's soccer team advanced to the Elite Eight round of the 2007 NCAA tournament with a 3-0 win over York College Saturday afternoon.  The Falcons improve to 21-0 while the Spartans end their season with a mark of 15-6-3.

Ithaca's lone score came in the 31st minute as Colleen Masterson slotted home a penalty kick.  A tough run by Winnie Adrien forced the foul in the box, and Masterson converted for her eighth goal of the season.

Wittenberg held a 12-6 advantage in shots while Ithaca garnered a 4-1 lead in corners.

Aimee Meacham made three saves in net for the Panthers.  Wittenberg's Meghan O'Rourke tallied one stop.

Ithaca moves on to tomorrow's Elite Eight match against Messiah at 1:00 pm.  The Falcons were 3-0 winners over host York College.  The winner of the match earns the right to play in next week's Final Four at Disney's Wide World of Sports.
