YORK, PA - The York College women’s soccer team continues to ride the wave of their record-setting 2007 campaign as junior defender Kali Macgregor (Rockville, Md./Academy of the Holy Cross) was named to the All-Mid-Atlantic Region third-team. She earned the honor from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America after her stellar season.
Macgregor led the Spartans to their first ever Capital Athletic Conference tournament championship, their first berth in the NCAA tournament, and a trip to the Sweet 16 amassing a program-best 15 wins along the way. Her inspiring leadership and strong play paced a Spartan defensive unit that conceded a mere 0.84 goals per game. A tough and aggressive player, Macgregor was dominant in the middle of the York defense providing an intimidating presence for the Spartans.
In addition to her regional accolade, Macgregor also landed on the All-CAC first-team backing up a second-team bid in 2006.
“Kali was great for us all year,” Spartan head coach Vicki Sterner said. “She is an amazing athlete and also a wonderful person. I am thrilled that she has received this honor as it is a testament not only to her outstanding play but the entire team’s success this season.”
