Spartan Wrestlers Set to Compete at NCAA Regional Championships This Weekend

YORK, Pa. – After finishing the regular season with a dual match record of 15-8, the 21st-ranked York College wrestling team will now make the transition to the postseason at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Wrestling Championships. The event will be held February 27-28 at Lamade Gymnasium on the campus of Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pa. Wrestling is slated to begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday and 10:00 a.m. on Sunday.

This NCAA Division III Championships qualifying tournament is a double-elimination format. The top three placers in each weight class will earn automatic bids to the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships held March 11-12 at Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Below is a look at the 10 Spartan wrestlers who will be competing at this weekend's Mideast Regional Championship:

125:

Sophomore Lake Laughman will be making his second-straight appearance at the Regional Championships. This season, Laughman has compiled a record of 13-12 with seven pin falls, one technical fall and three wins by decision.

133:

Junior Ryan Flynn will be making his third appearance at the Regional Championships. Flynn enters as the reigning 133-pound champion and last season's Mideast Regional Most Outstanding Wrestler. This season, Flynn has compiled a record of 25-7 with one pin fall, six technical falls, seven major decisions and nine wins by decision. He leads the team in both technical falls and major decisions.

141:

Freshman Greg Warner enters the Regional Championships with a record of 19-8 and has won 14 of his last 15 matches. Warner has compiled three pin falls, five technical falls, four major decisions and five wins by decision.

149:

Junior Adam Kritzer will be making his second career appearance at the Regional Championships. Kritzer has compiled a record of 8-7 this season with two major decisions and five wins by decision.

157:

Senior Cory Rank will be making his first career appearance at the Regional Championships. This season, Rank has compiled a record of 11-14 with one pin fall, two technical falls and seven wins by decision.

165:

Freshman Frankie Krauss enters the Regional Championships with a record of 20-12. Krauss has compiled four pin falls, seven major decisions and seven wins by decision this season.

174:

Freshman Joe Sindoni enters the Regional Championships with a record of 12-6. This season, Sindoni has compiled four technical falls, two major decisions and five wins by decisions.

184:

Freshman Jesse Huber enters the Regional Championships with a record of 13-11. Huber has recorded five pin falls, one major decision and three wins by decision on the season.

197:

Sophomore John Shorter will be making his second-straight appearance at the Regional Championships after placing sixth last season. This season, Shorter has compiled a record of 20-12 with seven pin falls, two major decisions and ten wins by decision.

285:

Senior Mike Spencer will be making his fourth-straight appearance at the Regional Championships and will look to break into the top-three this time around after placing fifth last season. Spencer has compiled a record of 25-6 this season with a team-leading 17 pin falls to go with five wins by decision.
