No. 21 Spartans Dominate at Penn College

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The 21st-ranked York College wrestling team braved the early elements of Winter Storm Jonas to earn a 48-3 road victory over Penn College of Technology on Friday evening.

The Spartans (9-7) received two forfeits from the Wildcats (5-8) at 125 and 141, while scoring four pin falls, one technical fall, one major decision and one decision victory.

Junior captain Ryan Flynn (Eagleville, Pa. / Marple Newtown) earned a 19-0 technical fall in the first period of the 133 bout. Flynn dominated his match from the opening whistle and ranked up numerous back points en route to his fourth tech fall of the season.

Junior Adam Kritzer (Herndon, Pa. / Line Mountain) fell victim to an early takedown, but flipped the script later in the first period as he scored back points to take the lead and never surrender it for the remainder of the match to earn a 13-6 victory.

Sophomore David Keith (Shoreham, N.Y. / Shoreham-Wading River) trailed 2-0 through the majority of his match at 157, but saw an opportunity to take a shot and capitalized with a pin fall at 1:36.

Freshman Eric Corliss (Blue Ball, Pa. / Germantown Academy) stayed on the offensive throughout his entire bout before earning the pin fall victory at 1:11.

Sophomore captain Mitchell Ramsey (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Mechanicsburg) really had to work to earn his 11-1 victory in one of the more evenly matched bouts of the night, but Ramsey wrestled smart and remained persistent to claim the victory at 174.

York closed out the dual with back-to-back pin falls at 197 and 285 with a combined time of 65 seconds to complete both bouts. Sophomore John Shorter (Lancaster, Pa. / Manheim Township) scored the first pin fall at 197 in a span of 48 seconds and 10th-ranked heavyweight Mike Spencer (Pompton Plains, N.J. / Pequannock Township) wasted little time as pinned his man in 17 seconds. Shorter now has six falls on the season, while Spencer extends his pin streak to three matches with his ninth fall of the season.

The Spartans are scheduled to face Elizabethtown College at home on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. Due to the oncoming storm, check for the latest schedule changes and updates.
