YORK, PA – The nationally ranked York College wrestling squad cruised to a 50-0 win over King's College on Friday evening in York. The Spartans, who are ranked 11th in the nation, improve to 18-3 overall while the Monarchs fall to 2-7.
The Spartans kicked off the match with a forfeit win at 125. Freshman Jimmy Ciampi then dispatched Travis Boardman in just 29 seconds for the pin, giving York the 12-0 lead. Junior Chris Albright, the nation's second-ranked wrestler at 141-pounds, followed Ciampi with a pinfall of his own as he put Nathaniel Seals on his back at the 3:45 mark. Albright is now 15-1 for the campaign.
Junior Chris Gugliotti earned a 9-0 major decision at 149-pounds as the Spartan lead grew to 22-0. Gugliotti now has 23 wins for the season. Freshman T.J. Demetrio followed Gugliotti up with a major decision win of his own as he posted a 9-0 win at 157-pounds.
Freshman Cody Ambrose earned a forfeit win at 184-pounds as the Spartans continued to roll against a depleted King's squad. Junior Kyle Minogue earned the Spartans' third win by fall in the match as he put Cemah Tudoe-Torboh on his back at the 2:58 mark of the 197-pound bout.
Senior George Saliba recorded his team-leading 26th win of the year but he needed overtime to do it as he edged Peter Dwyer 3-1 in the heavyweight match. Saliba is now 26-3 for the Spartans.
York travels to Millersville next Saturday to compete in the Mid-Penn Duals. The Spartans face Millersville at noon, followed by a match against Shippensburg at 2:00 pm and a third match against Thaddeus Stevens at 4:00 pm.
