Spartans Move One Win Closer; Top Millersville 28-13

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The #15 York College wrestling squad picked up a 28-13 triumph over Millersville on Tuesday evening in Millersville, Pa. The Spartans improve their season mark to 20-5-1 as they are now just one win shy of their program record of 21 victories.

The Green and White started off Tuesday's match with four straight triumphs. Rookie Sergo Grigorian was the benefactor of a Marauder forfeit at 125 pounds before senior Jerrid Hartman snagged an 11-3 major decision at 133 pounds. With the win, Hartman, York's usual 125-pounder, records his 17th win of the 2010-11 campaign.

The Spartan run continued at 141 pounds as Victor Signorelli, another Spartan newcomer, registered a major decision of his own. Signorelli bested Mark Massimini 8-0 to add four more points to the York ledger.

At 149 pounds, Chris Gugliotti came away with a 6-1 decision over Steve Hess. Gugliotti's triumph pushes his sophomore year record to 19-9, just one season after going 9-12 as a rookie, and gave the Spartans a commanding 17-0 lead.

Millersville came back over the next three bouts, as the Marauders captured victories in three straight to put the score at 17-13 Spartans with three matches to wrestle.

Just as they have done all season long, York's final three weight classes secured the team win for the Green and White. At 184 pounds, #9 Alex Martocello put together a 15-6 major decision as the junior captain improves to an impressive 24-4 for the season.

George Saliba, Division III's 10th-ranked wrestler at 197 pounds, reached the 20-win plateau with a 13-4 major decision over Daniel Cox.

Senior heavyweight James Laughlin brought home the final bout for the Spartans on Tuesday with his 9-6 decision at 285. Laughlin's triumph improves his record to 10-1 on the year.

The Spartans return to action on Friday, February 18, when they travel to McDaniel for a 7:00 pm non-conference tilt. York's bout against the Green Terror marks the final regular-season match on the Spartan schedule.
