YORK, Pa. – The York College wrestling squad will host the 2nd Annual New Standard Corporation Invitational Saturday, Dec. 4, at 9:30 a.m. in the Grumbacher Sport & Fitness Center's M&T Bank Fieldhouse.

The New Standard Corporation Invitational, one of the top tournaments in Division III wrestling, sports four of the nation's top-15 teams as well as 18 individual wrestlers ranked within the top-10 of their respective weight class.

"This is an A-plus tournament," Spartan head coach Tom Kessler said of the New Standard Corporation Invitational. "Some of the best wrestlers in the entire country will be competing here. It is very exciting for us, along with the outstanding people from the New Standard Corporation, to be able to host this tremendous event."

Headlining the participating institutions are #5 Ithaca, #7 US Merchant Marine Academy, #12 the College of New Jersey and #15 SUNY-Brockport. Host York, a squad on the cusp of the nation's top-30; Elizabethtown, the Apprentice School and UMBC will join these four to round out the eight-team event.

Highlighting the tournament is the Merchant Marine Academy's Vincent Renaut, quite possibly the best wrestler in all of Division III. Renaut, the Mariners' 165-pound force, is not only ranked #1 in his weight class but is the reigning NCAA Division III National Champion at 165 pounds. Furthermore, the über-talented senior was honored with the national tournament's prestigious Outstanding Wrestler accolade last season.

Ithaca's 141-pound Jeremy Stierly adds to the tremendous quality of the field. A returning All-American, he is currently ranked #3 in his weight class and was the national runner-up at last year's NCAA championships. Teammate Blaine Woszczak, the Bombers' 149-pounder, is also a returning All-American who has notched a more-than-impressive 112 career victories.

From the College of New Jersey, 184-pound Mike Denver is another returning All-American and currently ranked #4, while 165-pound Justin Bonitatis carries the #10 ranking and sports 108 career triumphs.

Brockport's Tyler Marlow leads the Golden Eagles with the #6 ranking at 125 pounds. Tom Rispoli is currently ranked #10 at 157 pounds and brings with him the most season victories this season as he sports a 16-4 record so far this year.

The Spartans sport a pair of top-ten wrestlers. Alex Martocello, the #10 wrestler at 184 pounds, was the runner-up to TCNJ's Denver at last season's New Standard Invitational and will look to take the crown this year. George Saliba, ranked #10 at 197 pounds, comes into the tournament with a flawless 10-0 mark, including a tournament title at the Monarch Invitational.

Additionally, the Spartans will look to local products Jerrid Hartman (125 pounds) and Chris Albright (141 pounds) for quality showings. Hartman, who finished fifth at the Invitational last year, will look to draw on his vast experience to climb up the ladder in 2010. Albright has excelled with the Green and White since transferring from Division I Pittsburgh. The talented Spartan newcomer sports a 9-1 record and has already picked up a tournament title as he won the Monarch Invitational to kick off the season.

"This is going to be a very exciting, very competitive day of wrestling," Coach Kessler said. "Many thanks to Mort Zifferer and the entire New Standard Corporation for their tremendous support. Because of them, we are going to be able to provide a first-rate experience for these incredible wrestlers."
