Hartman Named Spartan Athlete-of-the-Week

YORK, PA - York College 125-pound junior wrestler Jerrid Hartman (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) has been named the most recent Spartan Athlete-of-the-Week for the span of January 4-10, 2010. Hartman registered a 2-0 performance at Saturday's North/South Duals in Collegeville, Pa.

Against #19 Wesleyan University, Hartman posted one of his best victories of the season. The junior lightweight pulled out a 6-4 triumph over Dan Bloom, who is currently the eighth-ranked 125-pounder in Division III.

The junior also bested #13 Cortland's Jared Lemke by a 4-1 count, another quality win considering Lemke has posted a 13-5 record this year.

For the season, Hartman has compiled a strong 13-5 record of his own. Furthermore, he has placed in the top five in two of York's in-season tournaments. Hartman nabbed second at the Monarch Tournament and fifth at the Spartans's own New Standard Corporation Invitational - one of the top tournaments on the east coast this season.

Hartman will look to lead the Green and White back into action on Tuesday, January 12, as the Spartans travel to Trenton, N.J. York is set to square off with Centenary and the College of New Jersey in a tri-meet format beginning at 4:00 p.m.
