COLLEGEVILLE, PA - The York College wrestling team won four weight classes at the Ursinus Fall Brawl tournament in Collegeville, PA on Sunday. Three of the four defeated wrestlers from the College of New Jersey, currently the #8 ranked team in the nation, en route to their titles.
All-American Kyle Flickinger (New Oxford, Pa./Bermudian Springs) captured the crown in the 125-pound division. Junior John Niedrich (Freehold, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) earned his second tournament championship in two weeks, taking the 157-pound class. Niedrich sports a perfect 10-0 record, including first-place finishes at both the Monarch Invitational and yesterday’s Fall Brawl.
At 197 pounds, sophomore Hank Conklin (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) took the title, while senior stand-out Luke Panizzi (Eatontown, N.J./Monmouth Regional) garnered top honors at the 285-pound class.
Freshman Sheldon Marshall (Hyattsville, Md./Northwestern) made a solid showing in the 174-pound division taking fourth-place.
The Spartans return to the mat on December 1 when they host the Spartan Invitational. The action begins at 9:30 am in York’s Charles Wolf Gymnasium.
