SHIPPENSBURG, PA - The York College wrestling team fell to Division II Shippensburg University 37-10 Wednesday evening. The Spartans drop to 1-1 on the young season while the Red Raiders open their season 1-0.
York was only able to manage two victories on the evening as seniors Brian Alwine (Hanover, Pa./Southwestern) and Luke Panizzi (Eatontown, N.J./Monmouth Regional) picked up wins in their respective weight classes.
At 165, Alwine defeated Ship’s Jake Wilson with a 12-4 major decision. Panizzi, the ninth-ranked heavyweight in the nation, earned his victory pinning Jon Rhone 4:40 into the match.
The Spartans look to bounce back this Sunday as they travel to Collegeville, Pa. for the Ursinus Fall Brawl. The action is scheduled to begin at 9:30 am.
