Chelsea Thompson joins coach Jen Muston’s staff as a new assistant women’s lacrosse coach in 2014.
Thompson received her bachelor’s degree in Human Relations from High Point University in 2013 and was a Big South Presidential Honor Award Recipient in 2012.
While at HPU, Thompson was a member of the Panthers first ever Women’s lacrosse program and became a key contributor in building the team to immediate championship status in Division I. During the Panthers first season in 2011, Thompson started all 19 games and was the teams 2nd leading scorer with 48 goals and 20 assists. She was the programs first-ever goal scorer in their first varsity game against Virginia Tech, and played a major role in helping the team win the NLC Conference Championship in their first year.
During the 2012 season Thompson was the team’s leading scorer with 25 goals and 26 assists in 12 games before sitting out the remainder of the season due to an injury.
“I am very excited to have Chelsea join our staff and begin her coaching career at York College” said Muston. “She was an impact player on a Division I team and knows what it takes to get the team to championship status – just what we are striving for at York.”
Thompson also has previous coaching experience serving as a coach for the SP lacrosse club team in southern Maryland during the summers of 2011 and 2012. She hails from Annapolis Maryland where she attended Broadneck high school and played lacrosse.
