YORK, Pa. - Leah Schultz and Erica Mulford captured Capital Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week after leading the #16 York College women's lacrosse squad to a 2-0 week against a pair of league opponents. The Spartans, 10-2 overall and 5-0 in conference play, topped Frostburg St. 19-6 in Frostburg, Md. on Wednesday before picking up a 17-11 home triumph over #13 Mary Washington on Saturday.
Schultz nabs the conference's Defensive Player of the Week award for the second time this season as she collected 15 draw controls, three ground balls, and two caused turnovers over the Spartans' two contests. In the Green and White's tilt against Mary Washington, Schultz was all over the field as she tallied six draw controls, two caused turnovers, three ground balls, and two goals. For the season, the junior captain leads the Spartans with 56 draw controls while she is second on the team with 20 ground balls.
Mulford records her second CAC Offensive Player of the Week honor as she posted six goals and two assists over the two games last week. The sophomore set a career high with five goals in the Spartan victory over Mary Washington while she also provided an assist. For the year, Mulford is second on the squad with 26 goals while she has also posted 14 assists.
Schultz, Mulford, and the Spartans return to action on Wednesday, April 4, when they travel to Marymount (Va.) for a 4:00 pm CAC tilt with the Saints.
