YORK, Pa. - York College women's lacrosse junior midfielder Leah Schultz has been selected as the first Capital Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for the 2012 campaign.
Schultz's honor comes on the heels of the Spartans' 3-0 start in which they have held opponents to a mere 11 goals while scoring 55 times. For the week, Schultz picked up ten ground balls for the Green and White, tying for the current team lead with Jordan Hall, while collecting five draw controls and causing a Spartan-best four turnovers.
The talented junior, who was a 2011 first-team All-CAC selection, also scored six goals for York.
As a team, the Spartans only allowed 28 shots throughout the first 180 minutes of play as four of the 11 goals they surrendered came via free position shots.
Schultz and the Spartans return to action on Thursday, March 1, when they welcome Alvernia to Kinsley Field for a 4:00 pm tilt.
