YORK, Pa. – Sophomore Leah Schultz of the York College women's lacrosse team has been chosen as this week's Spartan-Athlete-of-the-Week. Schultz helped the Spartans to a 1-1 record this past week, including a 13-9 come-from-behind win over Montclair State.
Schultz led the Spartans to a 13-9 non-conference triumph at Montclair State with four goals and an assist on the day. The sophomore midfielder scored three goals in a row during the first half after the Green and White fell behind 3-1 to start the game. In that win, she notched a season high five points. The triumph tied the women's lacrosse season-best win total with eleven victories on the season thus far.
On senior day this past Saturday, Schultz chipped in with two goals, her second coming during York's run of five straight tallies to tie the contest, as the Spartans fell to St. Mary's 12-10. She also collected a game-high five draw controls against the Seahawks.
For the season, Schultz now 38 goals, ranking her second on the squad and fifth in the league. She also leads the squad in draw controls while Schultz is currently second in ground balls for the Green and White.
York has posted an 11-3 record for the season including a 4-3 mark in the Capital Athletic Conference. The Spartans will host Frostburg St. on April 12, followed by postseason play in the CAC Tournament starting on April 16.
