Wayson Selected as Spartan Athlete-of-the-Week
YORK, Pa. – York College women's lacrosse standout Kim Wayson has been selected as the latest Spartan Athlete-of-the-Week after her tremendous offensive performances in the Green and White's pair of victories last week.
Over those two contests, which lifted the Spartans to a strong 7-1 (2-1 CAC) record, Wayson tallied 16 points as she scored ten goals and distributed six assists.
Hosting Capital Athletic Conference foe Marymount (Va.) in the first game of the week, Wayson led the Green and White to a decisive 18-6 triumph. The sophomore scored six goals in the game and supplied a trio of assists.
In Saturday's match-up against St. Vincent, Wayson led the Spartan offense once again with four goals and three assists as York won 21-6. Each of her three assists in the non-conference contest came on consecutive goals in the first half.
For the season, Wayson has registered a team-best 36 goals and 11 assists. Her 93 career goals ranks her second on the all-time Spartan list, just one behind Jaclyn VanLuit's 94.
The Spartans return to action on Saturday, March 26, when they travel to Salisbury to take on the #1-ranked Sea Gulls in a 4:00 pm CAC tilt.
