YORK, Pa. – York College women's lacrosse sophomore Kim Wayson has been named the Capital Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player-of-the-Week following her 16-point performance in the Spartans' pair of victories last week. This is Wayson's second honor for that tremendous showing as she was also chosen as the Spartan Athlete-of-the-Week.
The Spartans, now 7-1 (2-1 CAC) on the season, received ten goals and six assists from Wayson who leads the squad in both categories. The sophomore's 36 goals leads the Green and White while she ranks second in the conference. In her career, Wayson has notched 93 goals and is just one behind York's all-time mark of 94 established by Jaclyn VanLuit in 2008.
Against CAC foe Marymount last week, Wayson scored six goals and distributed a trio of assists as York posted an 18-6 triumph.
The Spartans then hosted St. Vincent on Saturday in a non-league tilt as Wayson notched four scores and handed out three more helpers each of which came on consecutive goals.
This CAC accolade marks the second time this season that Wayson has been named the league's women's lacrosse offensive player-of-the-week as she also received the honor back on March 8.
The Spartans return to action on Saturday, March 26, when they travel to Salisbury to take on the #1-ranked Sea Gulls in a 4:00 pm CAC tilt.
