YORK, PA – The postseason accolades continue to roll in for York College women’s lacrosse standout rookie Kimmy Wayson (Harwood, Md./Southern). The freshman attack has been recently selected to the womenslacrosse.com Division III All-Rookie Squad following her tremendous 2010 campaign.
Wayson was nothing short of fantastic for the Green and White in just her first collegiate season. A smooth yet aggressive player, Wayson led the Spartans on the offensive end with 57 goals and 15 assists while contributing defensively with 20 groundballs and nine caused turnovers.
“Kim came in with a fearless attitude and did not play like a true freshman,” Spartan head coach Jen Dragoni said. “She was not afraid to dive right in from the start of the season and become such an impact player so quickly.”
During the year, Wayson tallied at least one goal in 15 of York’s 16 contests while scoring multiple times in 14 of those games. She notched three or more goals in 11 contests while posting at least four in seven Spartan tilts. After totaling six goals on three different occasions during the season,
Wayson set her current career-high at seven in 20-10 victory over CAC foe Welsey on April 11 in Dover, Del.
In Capital Athletic Conference regular season action, Wayson scored 27 times, averaging over 3.8 goals per game.
In addition to her selection on the womenslacrosse.com All-Rookie Squad, she was also a second-team choice on both the All-CAC and IWLCA All-Metro Region teams.
