Napolitano and Feustle Named IWLCA All-Region

YORK, PA - The York College women’s lacrosse team continues to ride the wave of their outstanding 2008 season as Ali Napolitano (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis Area Christian) and Anne Feustle (Baltimore, Md./Catonsville) were selected to the All-Metro Region first-team according to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association.

Napolitano’s 85 points on 61 goals and 24 assists were all top marks on the Spartan squad this year. Her leadership and skill from the midfield was vital to York’s success throughout the season. She leaves York after only two years in the green and white as she transferred in from Anne Arundel Community College, the 2006 NJCAA National Champions. Over Napolitano’s two years with the Spartans, she tallied program bests with 126 points and 45 assists.

“Ali did a great job for us all season long,” Spartan head coach Jen Dragoni said. “She played a such a high-level and was an excellent leader.”

Feustle, York’s junior goalkeeper, picks up her first all-region selection after playing every one of York’s 1,005 minutes in goal this season. Her work in 2008 included a .455 save percentage, 8.5 saves per game, and 136 total saves. Feustle’s invaluable leadership of York’s backline helped to catapult the Spartans to their best season in program history.

“Anne played extremely well in the cage this year,” Dragoni said. “She is a solid athlete who improved her game throughout the season. She worked very hard and it is great to see her receive such recognition.”

Napolitano and Feustle led a Spartan squad that posted a program best 11-6 record in 2008 including a six-game win streak toward the latter end of their schedule.

“This year was good but I’m looking for next year to be even better,” Dragoni said. “As long as we continue to work hard and do things the right way we should continue to improve and see even better results in 2009.”
