CAPE CHARLES, VA – The York College women's golf team sits second after day one of the 2018 Capital Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championships at the Palmer Course at Bay Creek Resort in Cape Charles, Virginia.

The Spartans totaled a team score of 381 as they trail leader Christopher Newport. The Captains finished the day with a team score of 326. Southern Virginia concluded the day in third with a team score of 440.

Freshman KeriAnne Mahoney led the Spartans as she shot a 93 to pace the Green and White. Mahoney dropped eight strokes to par over the next five holes but notched pars on 15 and 16 before finishing with a bogey and a triple for a 49 on the back. Mahoney is four shots back of fifth place.

Freshmen Emma Harding, Bethany Snodgrass, and Lindsey Bonner are each tied for seventh as they all carded identical scores of 96. Harding had a rough start as she was seven over through three holes but battled back to card four straight pars. She ended the front nine shooting a 46.
