YORK, PA – York College head women's basketball coach Betsy Witman has announced the Spartans will be conducting a "Day of Giving" in conjunction with Spartan Advance and the York College Office of Development.

The Day of Giving will be held on Wednesday, November 15. The day coincides with the start of the 2017-18 season as the Spartans host McDaniel on Wednesday evening at 6:00 pm.

The Day of Giving allows Spartan alums, parents, fans and community members to make a financial impact on the women's basketball program.

"We have a wonderful network of alums and supporters who have always stepped up to the plate in their support of our program," says Witman. "We have a long history of producing really good players but even better adults and professionals. I am so very proud of the players who have come through this program and become incredibly successful adults."

Witman said the program will use the funds raised to increase the recruiting budget, aid in funding this winter's trip to Daytona Beach on December 28 and 29 and help give her Spartan squad a first class experience.

The Spartans return a strong core led by a dynamic five player senior class. The Spartans went 18-9 last year and the senior class has totaled 50 wins in their first three years in the Green and White.

"We have the potential to have a great season," says Witman. "However, regardless of how we finish on the floor, we have a team that will make York College proud. They are all good students and even better people. I couldn't ask for a better group of kids."

The women's basketball Day of Challenge is in conjunction with the Spartan Advance, York College's official athletic booster club. Spartan Advance boasts over 900 members and is a driving force in our efforts to rise above and to build and maintain a thriving, contemporary intercollegiate athletic program, the Spartan Advance provides enhancements to our recruiting, travel and equipment budgets, and contributes to the support of additional coaching positions.
