YORK, PA – York College junior women's basketball forward Kristen Haley (Silver Spring, Md./Georgetown Visitation) has been named the Capital Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending January 27 as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Haley had a fantastic week to lead the Spartans to a perfect 3-0 stretch including their fifth Capital Athletic Conference win of the year on Saturday.
Haley began her week with 14 points and 13 rebounds in a road win at McDaniel on Monday night. She followed that with 22 points and 10 rebounds in the home win over Washington & Lee on Thursday.
In Saturday's victory over St. Mary's, Haley poured in a career-high 27 points while she pulled in 12 rebounds. Haley became the 13th member of the 1,000 career point club with a lay up on the right block with 5:52 left in the first half.
For the week, Haley averaged 21 points and 11.7 rebounds as she shot 47.1% from the floor, 33.3% from three and 81.2% from the free throw line. She handed out two assists and grabbed one steal in each game. Haley also blocked eight shots in the three games.
Her three double-doubles for the week give her seven for the year. The Spartans are now 16-4 overall and 5-2 in the CAC.
Haley is the daughter of Paul and Sue Haley and is a nursing major at York.
