YORK, PA - For the second time this season, York College sophomore forward Brittany Hicks was named the Capital Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending February 20, 2012 as announced by the conference on Monday. Hicks shared the award with Mary Washington's senior Jenna McRae.
Hicks had a fantastic week as she helped lead the Spartans to a 2-0 week. She began the week with a game-high 22 points and a career-high 17 rebounds in the Wednesday win over Wesley. She was 8-for-11 from the floor with one three pointer and a perfect 5-for-5 performance from the free throw line. Hicks also had four assists and two steals in her 33 minutes of work.
She helped the Spartans record a road win at Salisbury as the sophomore had 17 points and eight rebounds to help the Spartans record a 62-51 win over the Gulls. Hicks was 6-for-13 from the floor including 1-for-3 from distance. She banged home four of her five free throw attempts in the win.
For the week, Hicks averaged 19.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game as she shot 58% from the floor and 90% from the free throw line.
For the season, Hicks is averaging 13.2 points and a team-high 8.9 rebounds per game for the 21-4 Spartans. She is shooting 45.1% from the floor and 80.3% from the stripe.
