York Spartan sophomore forward Kristen Haley (Silver Spring, Md./Georgetown Visitation) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week after averaging 17.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, shooting 50% from the field, 100% from the charity stripe and adding two assists, a steal and three blocked shots for the defending conference champion Spartans as York went 2-0 with wins over St. Mary's and Frostburg.
Haley poured in a game-high 23 points, hitting 8-of-14 from the field, and grabbing 11 caroms in a midweek victory over visiting St. Mary's. It was her second double-double of the season and ninth of her career.
In the win over Frostburg, Haley had 12 points, seven rebounds, a blocked shot and two steals in her 28 minutes of work.
For the season, Haley is averaging 12.2 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 1.8 blocked shots per game. She is the reigning CAC Rookie-of-the-Year and is shooting 50.6% from the floor and a conference-best 91.7% from the free throw line.
