Ward Named the CAC Player of the Week for the Fifth Time

Keli Ward led the Spartans to the first 16-0 season in the history of the Capital Athletic Conference as the Spartans captured two wins this week as she was named the CAC Player of the Week for the fifth time this season

In the CAC regular season championship clinching win over Gallaudet, Ward had 15 points, 11 assists, six rebounds, four steals and three blocks. The double-double was her team-leading 14th of the year and the 28th of her career. She was 5-for-9 from the floor, 3-for-7 from three and a perfect 2-for-2 from the free throw line.

In the win over Marymount, Ward was simply outstanding. She poured in a game-high 24 points, handed out five assists, nabbed five steals, pulled in four rebounds and had a blocked shot. She did not commit a turnover in her 39 minutes of work despite being highly pressured by the Saints the entire game. Ward was 10-for-18 from the floor, 2-for-4 from three and 2-for-2 from the line in leading the Spartans to their 24th consecutive win.

For the week, Ward averaged 19.5 points, 8.0 assists, 5.0 rebounds, 4.5 steals and 2.0 blocked shots per game. She shot 55.6% from the floor, 45.5% from three and was 4-for-4 at the stripe. She did not commit a turnover (against 16 assists) in her 73 minutes of work.
