York College senior point guard Keli Ward (Nottingham, Pa./Oxford) has been named the Capital Athletic Conference co-player of the week with Marymount guard Meredith Levison as announced by the conference office on Monday.
Ward had an outstanding week as she led the Spartans to a perfect 3-0 week and the tournament championship of the Mike Durgala Memorial Tournament at Johns Hopkins this weekend.
Ward began her week with a stellar effort in the romp over Rowan. She recorded her second career triple-double as she poured in 21 points, pulled in 10 rebounds, and handed out 11 assists. She was 7-for-12 from the floor, 5-for-9 from three and 2-for-2 from the line in just 29 minutes of action.
In the win over Albright on Saturday, Ward had 16 points, eight assists, and three rebounds in the 89-74 victory over the Lions. Ward was 6-for-11 from the floor including one three and a 3-for-5 effort from the free throw line.
Against Hopkins in the championship tilt, Ward notched a double-double with 13 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. She was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line as the green and white downed the Blue Jays 70-61.
Ward was named to the All-Tournament team for the Spartans. York has won four straight in-season tournaments dating back to the Lycoming Touranment on January 5 & 6, 2007.
For the week, Ward averaged 16.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 7.0 assists per game. She shot 48.5% from the floor, 46.7% from three, and 84.6% from the free throw line.
