YORK, PA – The York College women’s
basketball team and the Women’s Basketball Coaches
Association team up on Wednesday to bring the WBCA Pink Zone™
to the Grumbacher Sport & Fitness Center. The Spartans, who are
currently ranked 9th in the nation with a 22-1 record, will host
Capital Athletic Conference foe Gallaudet at 6:00 pm before the men

The Pink Zone’s mission, as stated by the
WBCA, is for their “nation of coaches to assist in raising
breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in
communities, and beyond” in a global, unified effort.
“We are very excited to be a part of this
initiative,” Spartan head coach Betsy Witman
said. “This is an opportunity do our small part to raise
awareness and money to help defeat this terrible disease in a fun
and unique format.
The Green and White will don pink t-shirts
during warm-ups and sport pink shoelaces during the game.
York’s coaching staff and several administrators will also be
dressed in pink during the contest.
“It is great to have so many people from
the College excited about this event,” Witman raved. “I
encourage anyone coming to the game to wear pink in support of this
effort. All ticket sales for this CAC double-header basketball game
will go directly to the WBCA KayYow/WBCA Cancer Fund.”

school, and professional ranks are taking part in this event as
well as several conferences and associations. Among those involved
in the Pink Zone initiative are Division I powerhouses Duke,
