Ward Named CAC Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week
York junior guard Keli Ward (Nottingham, Pa./Oxford) and St. Mary’s sophomore guard Steph Saint-Aubin (Bowie, Md./Elizabethtown Seton) are the Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Co-Players of the Week for Feb. 25, 2008, after leading their teams to perfect weeks, which earned a home game in Tuesday’s quarterfinal round of the 2008 CAC playoffs.
Ward scored 42 points and grabbed 19 rebounds and dished out 13 assists in a pair of wins. She tallied a double-double with 18 points and tied a career-high 14 boards in Saturday 13-point victory at Marymount. She also became the 11th member of the York College 1,000 career point club with her three point field goal with 6:24 left in the first half. She is the third Spartan to receive the award this year.
Saint Aubin knocked down 11-of-16 field goal attempts on the way to a 27-point performance, with six rebounds and seven steals, in the Seahawks’ season-ending 79-71 win at Wesley as SMC clinched third place in the standings,
