The first matchup of the day was the second time the Spartans faced Ursinus this week. The Green and White recorded a 6-5 win in the first meeting. York did not fair as well on Wednesday.

The Bears added another six runs in the fourth inning to take a 15-3 lead The Spartans were able to score two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth, but it was not enough to close in on Ursinus.

York added to their lead in the bottom of the sixth after Johnston nearly homered again. Johnston recorded a double and allowed three runners to score. Penn State-Hazleton would score one more run in the top of the seventh, but it would not be enough for a comeback. Alyssa Molino (Montgomery, Pa./Montgomery) caught a fly ball out in right field and then fired it down to Harris at home plate for a double play that would end the game.
Johnston was strong offensively for the Spartans. She went 3-for-4 with one run and four RBI's. Mendez was 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI.
