Desiree Halaka enters her second year in the Spartan uniform looking to establish herself as a key player for the softball squad. Halaka, who was the Spartans’ starting goalie for the women’s soccer team in the fall, enters the season as a key reserve, both as an infielder and outfielder. She will also serve as one of the big bats on the Spartan bench, a key role that she did a good job with last year. Halaka hit .308 in 26 late season at-bats last year. She had 10 runs scored, three doubles and a pair of bombs while she also had eight RBI. She posted a .654 slugging percentage and a .379 on-base percentage for York. Halaka is a sociology major and is the daughter of Said and Sonia Halaka.
