Mickles Named CAC Softball Player of the Week

Senior right-hander Megan Mickles led the Spartans to a 6-0 week
including a pair of key Capital Athletic Conference sweeps this
week to earn the CAC Softball Player of the Week. The Spartans
swept Millersville to begin the week before sweeping Villa Julie on
Wednesday. York then was able to sweep Mary Washington to improve
to 10-4 overall and 4-0 in the league.
Mickles began her week with a complete game shutout in the 7-0 win
over Division II Millersville. Mickles struck out seven and walked
four as she scattered three hits to earn the shutout.
Against Villa Julie, Mickles was again outstanding as she tossed
her second consecutive complete-game shutout as she blanked the
Mustangs 5-0. Mickles struck out ten, walked one, and allowed three
hits.
She concluded her week with a 10-3 win over Mary Washington.
Mickles saw her scoreless streak end at 16.1 innings as she allowed
a run in the third inning of the game. She struck out 11 and walked
four as she allowed three runs on three hits in the win.
For the week, Mickles tossed 21 innings, struck out 29, walked
nine, allowed nine hits and surrendered three runs. She finished
the week with an ERA of 1.00.
For the season, Mickles is 4-2 with a 2.04 ERA. She has struck out
52 in 34.1 innings of work as opponents are hitting just .149
against her.
