
York College sophomore shortstop Heather Bormann has been named
the Capital Athletic Conference softball player of the week for
April 7. Bormann led the Spartans to a 7-1 week to earn the award.
With the outstanding week, York improved to 17-5 overall and 6-0 in
the CAC.
Bormann began her week with a 4-for-7 performance in the
doubleheader sweep of Elizabethtown. Bormann added three runs
scored and two stolen bases in the wins over the Blue Jays. In the
two-game split with Dickinson, Bormann was again 4-for-7 while she
added two runs scored and an RBI. In the sweep of Wesley, Bormann
went 0-for-3 in game one but bounced back to go 3-for-3 with three
RBI and three runs scored in game two. She concluded her week with
a 5-for-7 performance in the two wins over McDaniel. She scored
three runs and drove in one other in the two victories.
For the week, Bormann hit .593 (16-for-27) in the eight games. She
scored 12 runs and drove in five with two doubles, a triple, and
one home run. Bormann also notched five stole bases in six
attempts. She was nearly flawless in the field as she made just one
error in 31 attempts at shortstop for the week.
For the season, Bormann is hitting .564 with 30 runs scored, 14
RBI, six doubles, two triples and a home run. She has stolen 11
bases in 12 attempts while she owns a sterling .941 fielding
percentage.
