Welcome to the home for York College Athletics.
Stephen LoBianco is entering his third season leading the Spartans' cross country and track & field programs. LoBianco was named head coach in August of 2013.
In his first year as head coach, LoBianco oversaw Tim Hartung's return to nationals as the senior earned his second consecutive All-American honors in cross country. He also mentored Jess Miller as she became the first women's cross country runner to earn an invitation to the Division III National Championships.
During the 2014 indoor season, Hartung returned to nationals where he earned All-American honors in both the 5K and the 3K. In the spring, Hartung picked up two more All-American finishes in the 10K and the 5K.
Hartung capped his career as a seven-time All-American while he was also a two-time Capital One Academic All-America. Hartung was also named the York College Daniel Klinedinst Award winner signifying the outstanding senior male athlete.
LoBianco's 2010 inaugural season with the Spartan track and field team, he predominantly worked with the distance squad, where success was had with Mandy Parshall’s individual title in the 5k, as well as Hartung’s individual title in the 10k. That year also marked the first time since 1992 that the Men’s Track & Field team earned a CAC Championship. This was also followed by an NCAA Track & Field All-American 8th place effort by Ben Edwards in the 400m hurdles.
In LoBianco's second year, the Capital Athletic Conference held an official indoor championship for the first time and the Spartans flourished. LoBianco helped mentor many of the mid-distance and distance athletes to points earning conference finishes and school records. Later in the spring, Jasmine Smith qualified for NCAA Track & Field Nationals in the long jump.
As year three progressed, LoBianco saw the mid-distance and distance squads become a strong force within the conference, with them once again securing multiple individual champions in events such as the Men’s and Women’s 5k and mile indoor and the Men’s and Women’s 5k and 10k outdoor. LoBianco also coached Hartung to his first NCAA Track & Field Nationals appearance as he qualified in the 5k and 10k. Hartung was able to secure NCAA All-American status in the 10k with a 7th place finish on his way to a school record. 2013 also saw Phil Cavaluchi qualify for NCAA Track & Field Nationals in the long jump, where he had a fantastic 9th place finish.
In 2014, LoBianco's Spartans had a banner indoor season as four Spartans earned first team All-CAC honors as Tim Hartung was named the CAC Indoor Co-Athlete of the Year. On the women's side, four Spartans earned first team finishes while three others had runner-up performances. On the outdoor side, Hartung and Robert Doster both earned All-CAC honors as they both earned invitations to the NCAA Division III championships. Jenna Roberts was the Spartans' lone outdoor track and field winner as she was victorious in the 3000 steeplechase.
The 2015 outdoor campaign saw the Spartans host the Capital Athletic Conference championships at Graham Field. Caroline DeLany and Jess Miller each earned first team honors at the championships while Miller also earned a second place finish. On the men's side, Doster and Michael Stetson each won events at the championships. Doster would go on to earn his second straight NCAA Championship appearance as he qualified for nationals in the javelin.
