NORTHAMPTON, PA – The York College men's cross country team had a strong showing at the 2018 Moravian & Cedar Crest Cross Country Invitational on Friday night at Bicentennial Park in Northampton, PA.
The Spartans finished second of nine teams with 35 points. Host Moravian captured the top team honors with 20 points. The Spartans had seven runners finish in the top 13 and 11 of the top 20 as they put together a strong pack finish.
Top Spartan Performers
• York had a group of five runners finish six through ten in a strong front pack. Senior Ben Linne led the Spartans as he placed sixth with a time of 27:15.1. He was followed by Ray Smith as the senior was seventh with a time of 27:18.0. Senior Matt Zubrycki was 1.9 seconds back of Smith with a time of 27:19.9. Freshman Justin Smyth was the fourth Spartan to cross the line with a time of 27:20.5. Sophomore Jake O'Neill was the fifth Spartan to finish the race as he notched a time of 27:22.4.
• York had another pack of four finish from 12th through 17th. Charles Wood led this pack with a 12th place finish with a time of 27:36.6. Sophomore Drew Alansky was right behind Wood with a 13th place finish with a time of 27:48.2. Daniel Forry was 16th clocked in with a time of 28:04.2 while Darren Webb was 17th with a time of 28:12.6.

"The men did a great job tonight of working closing with a tight top five," said Spartan head coach Stephen LoBianco. "The men nailed their race plan. They started off in the middle of the pack and were able to move up the entire race. The top five all being seven seconds apart was great to see that type of performance tonight."
The Spartans return to action in eight days when they head to the Lock Haven Invitational hosted by Lock Haven University. The action is slated for a 10:30 am start.
