YORK, PA – Four athletes from the York College men's and women's cross country teams were named to the NCAA Division III Cross Country All-Academic Teams, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on Friday. Additionally, both the men's and women's squads were recognized as All-Academic Teams.
Grant Dell, Ben Linne and Andy MacGibbon were three of 300 men in Division III to earn the distinction, while Alayna DeBruin was one of 368 women. To be eligible, runners must finish in the top 25 percent of their respective regional championship meet in addition to achieving a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30.
Dell finished his illustrious career in the Green and White as a four-time All-Capital Athletic Conference and two-time All-Region runner. This season, he finished seventh at the CAC Championships and 24th at the NCAA Mideast Regional. At York's first appearance at the NCAA Championships, Dell ran to a 146th-place finish. Linne was 19th at the CAC Championships and 48th at the Regional, before taking 222nd at the national championship. The junior was an All-Region runner a year ago. MacGibbon finished ninth at the CAC Championships, earning All-CAC selection for the fourth time in his career, and was 43rd at the regional event. He was the third Spartan to cross the line at nationals, finishing 180th of 279 runners.
DeBruin earned All-Academic status for the second time in her career. She was one of four Spartans to finish inside the top 10 at the CAC Championships, taking 10th and helping York to its second consecutive conference title. It was the junior's second time on the All-CAC team. She was the top runner in the Green and White at the NCAA Mideast Regional, finishing 53rd, and less than just five seconds from the top 50.
Both the men's and women's teams were recognized as All-Academic Teams, boasting a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.10, while also compiling a team score at their regional events. The men's team was one of 167 teams in Division III, posting a 3.30 GPA, and the women's team was one of 221 squads earning the distinction, and finished with a 3.36 GPA.

The Spartans finished 30th at the national meet of 32 teams. The Green and White proved to be one of the top teams in the region once again, finishing second at the CAC Championships and fourth of 51 teams at the NCAA Mideast Regional.
