YORK, Pa. – The York College men's cross country teams competed well at the NCAA Mideast Regional race. The men's team took seventh as they faced a loaded field at Lehigh.
The men repeated their performance from last year with a seventh place finish. The men finished just behind sixth place team, Swathmore, by just one point. Senior Tim Hartung (Mohnton, Pa. / Governor Mifflin) was able to take a ninth place finish to lead the Spartans. Hartung broke the 25 minute barrier with a time of 24:56. His time was an improvement off of last years regional race by almost 30 seconds. With the ninth place finish Hartung grabbed All–Region honors.
Junior Michael Stetson (Old Bridge, N.J. / Old Bridge) was able to push hard and nab his own All-Region honors with his 26th place finish. Stetson ran the tough course in just 25:28 to break the top 35. The team was able to get all of their scoring runners place in the top 85.
On the regional championships, Coach LoBianco stated: "We tied our highest regional finish (last year). It was the first time ever to have two Spartans all-region."
It was a great season for York, as they were able to nab their 3rd straight CAC Championship. The Spartans will look to continue their high levels of team work as they look to the 2014 season.
