YORK, Pa. – The York College men's cross country team came in fourth place out of eight teams at the Goucher Cross Country Classic on Saturday afternoon.
A good portion of the Spartan runners did not race in preparation for next weekend.
The first Spartan to cross the finish line was Russell Souder (Timonium, Md./Dulaney) in 14th place with a time of 29:34. Next to finish for the Green and White was Andrew Ward (Oxford, N.J./Warren Hills Regional) at 29:56 in 17th place. Travis Deckert (New Windsor, Md./Mt. St. Joseph) was the third Spartan finisher recording a time of 30:32. Coming in 35th with a time of 31:17 was Joey Corrigan (Northport, N.Y./Northport). Crossing the finish line at 31:42 was Joey Orlando (Minotola, N.J./Buena Regional) and at 31:54 was Nihir Trivedi (River Edge, N.J./River Dell Regional). Rounding out the scoring for the Spartans was Paul Glassmoyer (York, Pa./West York) with a time of 35:00.
"I am very pleased with the men's results," said head coach Erick Camodeca. "It was a great opportunity for them and us to show our depth against other teams, especially against the field today."
The Spartans finished the race with a total of 112 points. Coming in ahead of them was St. Mary's in third, Johns Hopkins in second and Navy in first. Also competing in the race was Mary Washington, Goucher, Goucher Alumni and Stevenson.
York returns to action on Saturday when they race at the Christopher Newport Invitational. The race is set to begin at 12 p.m.
