Spartans Snag Fourth in Final Tune-Up

TOWSON, Md. – The York College men's cross country team took fourth place Saturday at the 2011 Goucher College Cross Country Classic. The event serves as York's final tune-up for the Capital Athletic Conference Championships slated for Saturday, October 29, in York.

As he has done throughout the campaign, sophomore standout Tim Hartung once again paced the Spartan runners. Hartung posted a 29:15.80 to take 19th overall out of 72 competitors, as 12 of the top 13 runners were from the U.S. Naval Academy. John Wallace completed the course just one slot and .60 seconds behind Hartung, as he put up a 29:16.40.

"Tim and John ran well today," Spartan head coach Erick Camodeca said. "They ran a smart race."

Wilfredo Feliciano, Jr. proved York's third finisher on the day. The rookie came across the line in 30:24.30 to snag 25th.

"I'm really happy for him," Camodeca said of Felciano's performance. "I think he's starting to mature as a runner. This was a really strong finish for him."

Fellow freshman Michael Stetson traversed the course in 30:35.10 to garner 28th while Andrew Ward ran to a 32:16.50, good for 37th overall.

The Spartans will now turn their attention to the CAC Championships. The annual conference meet, slated for Saturday, October 29, is scheduled for John Rudy Park in York as race time is set for 11:00 am.
